SUMMARY


The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the OTR fleet shop and leading all shop personnel to support operational success. This role ensures efficient shop operations through effective leadership, strategic scheduling, workflow coordination, facility oversight, repair quality assurance, and fleet operational readiness. The Fleet Maintenance Manager is accountable for delivering reliable, high-quality maintenance services while maximizing vehicle uptime, safety, productivity, and overall fleet performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Work closely with the General Manager and Transportation Manager to coordinate fleet work, prioritize maintenance schedules, and ensure efficient fleet operations.
• Supervise and lead the day-to-day operations of the shop and maintenance staff.
• Coordinate routine maintenance schedules and urgent repairs for a fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment operating throughout Alaska.
• Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Communicate and coordinate with multiple locations to align maintenance activities with operational demands and compliance requirements.
• Assign work orders to technicians based on skill level, workload, and geographic needs to maintain productivity and efficient resource allocation.
• Monitor technician performance and provide leadership, coaching, guidance, and technical support.
• Participate in recruiting, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for maintenance personnel.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to company standards and specifications.
• Manage shop tools, equipment, and parts inventory levels to support operational efficiency.
• Monitor maintenance costs, labor utilization, and parts expenditures while supporting budget goals and cost-control initiatives.
• Enforce shop safety standards and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT and OSHA requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, inspections, and other required documentation.
• Utilize fleet management systems to track maintenance activities, monitor fleet performance, and support operational optimization.
• Track and report key maintenance metrics including uptime, repair turnaround time, labor efficiency, and preventive maintenance compliance.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
• Monitor asset lifecycle performance and provide recommendations for equipment replacement and capital planning.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost control, and operational efficiency.
• Respond to operational emergencies, breakdown situations, and after-hours maintenance needs as required to support fleet operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of fleet or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, trailers, and commercial vehicle systems.
• Experience with DOT compliance and maintenance recordkeeping.
• Proficiency with fleet maintenance software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in both office and shop environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, grease, fumes, and moving mechanical equipment.
• Position may require travel between operational locations.
• Must be able to respond to operational issues outside of normal business hours when necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education : High School diploma or GED.

Experience : 5-8+ years of prior related work experience in the shop supervisory and/or management role. Must be 23 years or older - FMCSR Part 391.11 (b) (1)

Licensure/Certification : Valid Alaska Class A CDL with TX endorsement (or ability to obtain) Valid medical card. ASE, and or CFM Certification preferred

Other Qualifications : Must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate in writing and verbally effectively with others. Must be able to present themselves as an example of Shoreside Petroleum's quality and professionalism.

Attendance : Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.


English Language : Read and speak English sufficiently to converse with general public and comprehend DOT and OSHA regulations
