Head of Human Resources (VP) (New York City Metropolitan Area)

We are partnering with a rapidly growing healthcare organization seeking a Head of HR (VP) to lead and scale the HR function during a significant period of expansion. This role is based in Midtown and is in the office 5 days a week.

This is a highly visible leadership role for an experienced HR executive who is energized by growth, comfortable operating in a complex environment, and motivated by the opportunity to build infrastructure rather than simply maintain existing processes.

The Vice President of Human Resources will report directly to the President and oversee a growing HR team. This individual will be responsible for strengthening the overall HR function, developing scalable processes, improving systems, and providing leadership across employee relations, compliance, benefits, performance management, talent, and broader HR operations.

The ideal candidate will be a true builder who can operate both strategically and tactically. This person should be comfortable stepping back to think about organizational structure, long-term people strategy, and the future needs of the business, while also being willing to get into the details and work through complex day-to-day HR matters. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and continue to build the Human Resources function for a growing, multi-location organization
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and senior leadership team on people, organizational, and employee-related matters
• Manage and develop an existing HR team of approximately three employees, with the potential for the team to grow further
• Oversee employee relations, HR compliance, benefits, performance management, talent management, and broader HR operations
• Develop scalable HR policies, processes, systems, and infrastructure to support continued organizational growth
• Assess current HR workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, accountability, and service levels
• Partner closely with in-house Legal and other business leaders on employment-related and compliance matters
• Build stronger management practices and provide guidance to leaders across the organization
• Help create an HR function that can operate effectively and independently as the company continues to scale
• Support workforce planning and organizational development associated with new location openings and continued headcount growth
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and mission-driven culture
• Balance long-term strategic planning with hands-on execution and day-to-day problem solving

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of progressive Human Resources experience
• Significant experience in a senior HR leadership role, ideally at the Vice President, Head of HR, or comparable level
• Broad HR generalist background with deep knowledge of employee relations, compliance, benefits, performance management, and HR operations
• Demonstrated experience building or significantly scaling an HR function, team, or infrastructure
• Experience supporting a rapidly growing, complex, and highly service-oriented organization
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop HR professionals
• Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-touch environment with changing priorities
• Exceptional judgment, problem-solving skills, and executive presence
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with senior leadership
• Highly proactive, intellectually curious, thoughtful, and execution-oriented
• Comfortable being both a strategic leader and a hands-on operator
