Facility : Marsh Med Ctr Minocqua Location : Minocqua, WI Address : 9576 WI-70, Minocqua, WI 54548, USA Shift : Varies Job Schedule : Full time Weekly Hours : 40.00 Job Summary Two major functions of the Patient Access Representative (PAR) are patient registration and scheduling. Depending on setting, the PAR may perform only registration or scheduling duties, or both. In a registration role, the PAR greets patients and residents, verifies demographics to accurately register or schedule, completes required paperwork, creates electronic files, scans and routes documents, educates patients on necessary paperwork, establishes financial responsibility, assists with arrangements, collects co‑payments, pre‑payments, or payments on account balances, and resolves registration‑related issues such as work queue errors, denied claims, and database maintenance. In a scheduling role, the PAR schedules appointments and procedures, obtains and coordinates referrals, conducts pre‑authorizations, arranges interpreter services, checks patients in and out, offers enrollment to additional resources, collaborates with nursing and providers to coordinate appointments, may coordinate provider schedules, resolve work queue issues, and manage recall and waitlists. The position may also operate a multi‑line telephone and serve as a switchboard operator when required. Additional duties vary by setting and may include preparing charts, organizing provider documents, discussing pre‑payment responsibilities, initiating and collaborating on financial assistance, handling prior authorizations, tracking visits, maintaining health information, preparing reports, administering assessments, coordinating tele‑medicine appointments, managing billing and charge verification, making reminder calls, participating in hospital admissions, faxing, and ordering supplies. In all settings, the PAR mentors new or existing staff, displays professionalism, promotes mutual respect, works independently and as part of a team, follows nursing direction, maintains confidentiality, provides excellent customer service, empathizes with patients, and demonstrates working knowledge of medical terminology and professional written communication. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); post‑secondary education is helpful. One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Customer service skills essential; six months’ customer service experience desired. Medical terminology and basic BLS may be required for certain locations.
