ATI is currently seeking a Lab Technician 6 (Machinist) for our lab department in our Monroe, NC facility. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, able to work as a team, understand and follow work instructions, multi-task, and show attention to detail.

MECHANICAL - HEAT TREAT SAMPLES; ROOM AND ELEVATED TEMPERATURE TENSILES; RAPID STRAIN RATE TENSILES; SHEAR, BLEND, AND FLATTENING TESTS; STRESS RUPTURE; HARDNESS; CHARPY IMPACT TESTS.

METALLOGRAPHY - METALLOGRAPHY PREPARATION (INCLUDING MOUNTING, POLISHING, AND ETCHING SAMPLES); USE LABORATORY MICROSCOPE TO EVALUATE GRAIN STRUCTURE AS TO SIZE, UNIFORMITY, INCLUSIONS AND OTHER SPECIFIED FACTORS; HARDNESS; MICRO AND MACRO PHOTOGRAPHS; AUTOMATED IMAGE ANALYSIS.

SAMPLE SAWING & MACHINING - OPERATE ABRASIVE SAWS TO CUT A VARIETY OF TEST SAMPLES ACCORDING TO DRAWINGS AND STANDARD PLANS; SET-UP AND OPERATE LATHE, CYLINDRICAL AND SURFACE GRINDERS, MILLING MACHINE, BROADER, DRILL PRESS AND OTHER MACHINE TOOLS

Skills:

• Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read measuring tapes
• Ability to read and follow written procedures
