Medical Science Liaison Sr. (MSL) – Myasthenia Gravis Team UCB is seeking an experienced, science-driven and patient-focused Medical Science Liaison to strengthen our neurological Rare Disease Organization’s mission in the Mid‑Atlantic Region (South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Eastern West Virginia, Washington DC). The role will be fully based in the specified territory. About the role The MSL provides peer-level scientific exchange with clinicians and researchers in neuromuscular diseases. The position fosters collaborative, science-driven partnerships with key stakeholders to support optimized patient care and drives patient-focused initiatives within the local health ecosystem. Key responsibilities Maintain deep therapeutic‑area expertise and stay current on pre‑clinical and clinical data, treatment options, emerging standards of care, and competitive landscape for myasthenia gravis and other neuromuscular disorders. Develop and manage trusted, peer‑to‑peer relationships with key stakeholders (KOLs, clinical investigators, medical groups/IDNs, patient advocacy groups) and execute tailored engagement plans to identify local needs and opportunities. Deliver balanced scientific exchange and clinical value propositions, addressing medical information inquiries and providing effective, audience‑tailored presentations to internal and external audiences. Generate and communicate meaningful medical insights from the field to inform medical strategy and tactics, including input for standard response letters. Represent UCB as a scientific expert at local, regional, and national conferences related to neuromuscular diseases. Identify and support research and educational collaboration opportunities, including feasibility assessment and liaison support for unsolicited Investigator‑Initiated Studies from inception through publication. Collaborate cross‑functionally (Medical, RWE, access, and other partners) to enhance patient care, support access engagements, and contribute to broader Medical Affairs projects. Minimum qualifications Doctoral level degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, or DNP). Nurse Practitioners with relevant research or clinical experience may be considered. Minimum 1+ years of experience in medical affairs within the biopharmaceutical industry. Must reside within the assigned territory. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 80% within the designated territory. Preferred qualifications Experience in neurology, neuromuscular disorders, or rare diseases. Strong business acumen and solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings. Basic knowledge of health economics and clinical trials. Experience collaborating with global and local therapy area experts and external organizations. Strong team player who interfaces effectively with internal departments including marketing, sales, medical affairs, and clinical operations. Creative problem‑solving skills and adaptability to a constantly changing environment. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong time‑management and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications. Ability to work independently and manage a large territory with multiple stakeholders. Salary: $156,000.00 – $204,000.00 annually (actual offer based on internal equity and other factors). UCB is an equal opportunity employer.
