Objective and Position Summary

NIDC’s Family Support Network Facilitator will be responsible for helping to support NIDC afterschool participants and the adults that help kids thrive through the implementation of therapeutic support groups, engaging community through staff trainings, family workshops, and family referrals to ongoing support.

This position is expected to create, recruit, and implement groups and programming specifically for boys and men at various program sites.

The Facilitator position is under the direct supervision of the Social Worker and works collaboratively with the Youth and Family Services and Executive teams.

This position is part-time and temporary, with the possibility of becoming permanent and full-time. Salary range is commensurate with experience. Hours will be variable and negotiable, though mostly Monday-Friday in the afternoons and early evenings.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitate support groups and workshops, including, but not limited to, peer groups for boys and men
• Facilitate workshops that will help dads develop greater parenting skills, self-care, and learn how to support themselves and their children through the lasting social-emotional effects of COVID-19 and other stressors
• Find outside resources for families and provide referrals when appropriate

• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
• Highly motivated and self-directed; capable of seeing projects through from beginning to end
• Results-oriented
• Must have a good sense of humor

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred
• Fluent Spanish strongly preferred

COVID-19 Considerations

• Must be fully vaccinated in compliance with NYC/NYS mandates
• Work Location: Main office with significant time spent in the field and facilitating remote workshops.
