Event Security Officer

Location: Grand Junction, CO
Employment Type: Part-Time / Event-Based
Schedule: Evening and weekend event assignments
Pay: $25.00 per hour

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is seeking dependable Unarmed Special Events Security Officers to support concerts, festivals, sporting events, community gatherings, and other scheduled events throughout Grand Junction and surrounding areas.

This position is a good fit for individuals who enjoy working with the public, remain composed in busy environments, and can provide a professional security presence while helping guests, staff, and event personnel maintain a safe and orderly setting.

Schedule & Availability

• Part-time assignments are primarily available during evenings and weekends.
• Opportunities are available for both local events and out-of-town assignments.
• Primary coverage areas may include Grand Junction, Rifle, Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Aspen, Vail, Montrose, Ouray, and Telluride .
• Team members may have flexibility to build a schedule around their availability.
• A limited number of shifts may be required for larger events and scheduled assignments.
• Out-of-town events may require travel outside the normal work area.

Key Responsibilities

Event Security

• Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout assigned event areas.
• Monitor entrances, exits, guest areas, and other designated locations.
• Conduct bag checks and screening procedures according to event requirements.
• Verify identification when required by event procedures.
• Assist with access control and help ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
• Observe crowd activity and identify situations that may require attention.

Crowd & Guest Safety

• Help manage pedestrian movement and maintain orderly foot traffic.
• Recognize potential safety concerns, disturbances, or policy violations.
• Respond to routine security concerns in accordance with post orders and event procedures.
• Request assistance from supervisors or emergency personnel when a situation requires additional support.
• Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for guests, employees, vendors, and event participants.

Customer Service

• Interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner.
• Provide basic directions and general assistance when appropriate.
• Answer routine questions or direct guests to the appropriate event personnel.
• Handle difficult interactions calmly and respectfully.
• Represent Citadel Security USA positively while working at assigned events.

Event Policy & Compliance

• Follow event-specific procedures, post orders, and company policies.
• Support identification and alcohol-control procedures when assigned.
• Report suspected policy violations or safety concerns to event leadership.
• Maintain professional conduct throughout each assignment.
• Complete required activity or incident documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and dependable work habits.
• Ability to remain attentive in crowded, fast-moving environments.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Comfortable interacting with guests, employees, vendors, and event personnel.
• Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment during unexpected situations.
• Must meet applicable requirements to work as an unarmed security officer in Colorado.

Preferred Experience

• Previous security or special event experience.
• Experience with crowd management or access control.
• Customer service, hospitality, or public-facing experience.
• Familiarity with bag screening, identification checks, or event procedures.

Work Environment

• Assignments may take place at indoor or outdoor event venues.
• Officers may work in varying weather conditions.
• Duties may involve extended periods of standing, walking, and monitoring public areas.
• Event environments can be busy and require consistent awareness, patience, and professional communication.
• Some assignments may require travel to communities outside Grand Junction.
