Job Summary The Business Operations Manager - Sanitation Business Administration performs highly advanced, complex management and oversight of daily operations for an operating unit or functional program. This position oversees strategy, planning, and performance improvement, and manages environmental safety, customer service, route optimization, and data analysis systems. Job Description Overview The Business Operations Manager - Sanitation Business Administration performs highly advanced, complex management and oversight of daily operations for an operating unit or functional program. This position overrides strategy, planning, and performance improvement, and manages environmental safety, customer service, route optimization, and data analysis systems. Essential Functions 1 Manages, oversees, and provides direction for the business administration activities for the Sanitation department; provides leadership, manages staff, and delegates responsibility of tasks to subordinates. 2 Identifies needed areas of training and or development and institutes changes to improve operations; monitors tracking systems and other information systems supporting the sanitation program and initiatives. 3 Provides technical guidance to personnel performing business support; manages workload and workflow, oversees permitting activities and licensing, and ensures accuracy of business functions. 4 Develops and implements budget and resource allocation for the department; tracks and oversees revenues and expenditures to ensure all necessary funding is requested; collaborates with other managers and stakeholders to identify funding needs. 5 Represents the program area at meetings, hearings, and conferences, as well as on boards, panels, and committees. 6 Establishes, determines, and implements short-, mid-, and long-term goals and objectives; develops and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals and directs evaluation activities. 7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1 Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the Sanitation activities of the City. 2 Knowledge of budget management and the ability to develop and implement a budget. 3 Ability to manage business activities through the supervision of subordinate supervisors and staff. 4 Ability to devise solutions to administrative problems and plan, assign, and delegate responsibility. 5 Ability to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures. 6 Communicating effectively and in writing. 7 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in any field. EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of experience in any of the following: Capital budget development Operating budget development Full-cost recovery analysis Accounting Accounts payable AND Three (3) years of supervisory/management responsibilities. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above). EQUIVALENCY: An associate degree in any field plus eight (8) years of the required experience including three (3) years of supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. LICENSE Valid driver's license with good driving record. Salary Range $93,912.00 - $117,395.20 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
