Supplier Quality Engineer

We are an industry-leading manufacturer of mission-critical components and systems for the Aerospace and Defense sectors. We are seeking a strategic, highly technical Supplier Quality Engineer to manage and elevate the quality of our global supply base. In this role, you will own supplier quality performance across the entire product lifecycle, from initial qualification and new product introduction through full-scale production. If you excel at driving defect prevention, improving process capabilities, and ensuring strict compliance in a high-stakes environment, we want you on our team.Key ResponsibilitiesSupplier Development & Qualification: Lead supplier selection, capability assessments, and on-site audits. Drive production readiness, process validation, and First Article Inspections (FAI).Performance Management: Establish and monitor critical KPIs including PPM, On-Time Delivery (OTD), and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Lead performance reviews and implement continuous improvement plans.Root Cause & Issue Resolution: Investigate supplier-related nonconformances and escapes. Drive robust corrective actions using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams).Process Control & Risk Mitigation: Evaluate supplier manufacturing controls utilizing FMEA, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and control plans to implement error-proofing and minimize process variation.Compliance & Auditing: Conduct rigorous audits to ensure supply base compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer, and regulatory requirements. Support internal and regulatory audits as needed.Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate seamlessly with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management to align sourcing decisions with quality metrics and risk assessments.What We're Looking ForEducation: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.Experience: 5+ years of experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role, specifically within the Aerospace & Defense manufacturing industry (OEM or Tier 1 experience highly preferred).Quality Standards: Deep, practical knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and FAA regulations.Technical Toolset: Proven expertise in root cause analysis, FAI, APQP, FMEA, and SPC. Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.Bonus Qualifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.Travel: Willingness and ability to travel 25-40% to supplier facilities.Why Join Us?We offer a dynamic, collaborative environment that champions professional growth.
