Job Title: Facilities Technician / Assistant Facilities Manager
Job Description

This role supports the Facilities Manager in overseeing day-to-day facilities operations at an FDA-regulated site, including GMP areas. You will coordinate maintenance activities, support recent and ongoing regulatory-driven changes, and help manage facilities technicians and contractors. The position focuses on ensuring the site remains safe, compliant, and well-maintained, while effectively managing vendors, critical building systems, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Facilities Manager in coordinating all aspects of property and facility management, maintenance, and record keeping.
  • Act as a key liaison for building operations, coordinating staff, financials, and vendors to support smooth and compliant operations.
  • Help oversee facilities technicians and contractors, ensuring work quality, adherence to procedures, and timely completion of tasks.
  • Coordinate and schedule repairs, preventive maintenance, and routine site inspections across GMP and non-GMP areas.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to requests from internal stakeholders and site occupants, ensuring high levels of customer service.
  • Monitor the facility to ensure it remains safe, secure, and well-maintained, with particular attention to critical systems in an FDA-regulated environment.
  • Oversee or support the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing.
  • Assist in managing critical systems and GMP-related infrastructure to support compliance with regulatory standards, including recent FDA audit requirements.
  • Support vendor management activities, including coordinating service providers, contractors, and construction-related work as needed.
  • Contribute to construction and project management efforts, ensuring facilities-related projects align with operational and compliance needs.
  • Ensure all documentation, logs, and reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time in accordance with site procedures and regulatory expectations.
  • Use SAP-based systems and other computer applications to track work orders, maintenance activities, and facility-related data.
  • Assist in planning, administering, and controlling budgets for contracts, equipment, and supplies, including tracking expenditures and supporting financial reporting.
  • Apply basic accounting and mathematical principles to support budget management, cost tracking, and financial analysis related to facilities operations.
  • Analyze operational and business trends in facility usage and costs to help project future maintenance needs, revenues, and expenses.
  • Follow and enforce policies and procedures related to facility safety, security, and overall well-being of the site.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance-related tasks, particularly for GMP and FDA-regulated areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement in facilities operations.
Essential Skills
  • 5–7 years of related experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a similar facilities background.
  • Strong familiarity with building systems, documentation, and administration, including critical systems in GMP environments.
  • Hands-on experience with facilities maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, preventive maintenance, and use of hand tools.
  • Knowledge and experience working in GMP environments and FDA-regulated facilities.
  • Experience overseeing maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Vendor management experience, including coordination of service providers and contractors.
  • Experience with construction or project management activities related to facilities.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, manage one’s time effectively, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and a customer service mindset.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
  • Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to support budget and cost management.
  • Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses related to facilities operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • HVAC and EPA-related qualifications or certifications.
  • Experience working with GMP processes and documentation in regulated environments.
  • Exposure to FDA audits and understanding of compliance expectations in FDA-regulated facilities.
  • Experience with SAP-based systems for maintenance management, work orders, or asset tracking.
  • Demonstrated management or leadership experience supporting facilities teams, technicians, or contractors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
  • Comfort working with hand tools and performing or overseeing hands-on maintenance tasks as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based at an FDA-regulated site that includes GMP areas and critical building systems. You will work closely with the Facilities Manager, facilities technicians, and external contractors in a structured, compliance-focused environment. The position involves regular presence on the facility floor to monitor conditions, oversee maintenance, and support inspections, as well as office-based work to manage documentation, budgets, and reporting. You will work with technologies such as HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment, and SAP-based systems for maintenance and asset management, alongside standard office tools like Microsoft Word and Excel. The environment emphasizes safety, security, and adherence to established procedures, with an expectation of professional attire appropriate for both office settings and technical areas where additional safety or protective gear may be required.

This is a Contract position based out of El Paso, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
