Position Overview

The Field Service Operations Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and executing field service operations while supporting shop activities as needed.

The primary focus of this role is leadership of Field Services operations. This position serves as the key liaison between field crews, engineering, sales, and customers, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality, ASME- and NBIC-code-compliant execution of all projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Vice President of Engineering and Sales.
• Plan, manage, and execute field operations ranging from small crews of approximately 2 personnel to large-scale projects involving 50+ personnel.
• Serve as the primary field representative to customers, maintaining strong communication and professionalism.
• Coordinate closely with Engineering, Sales, and Shop Operations to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
• Provide accurate field reporting, documentation, and updates to internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Sales, and Quality Control.
• Ensure all field work complies with ASME, NBIC, and applicable code requirements.
• Enforce safety standards, including OSHA requirements and site-specific safety protocols.
• Lead field safety efforts and contribute to shop safety initiatives when onsite.
• Maintain and manage tools, equipment, and field assets to ensure operational readiness.
• Support shop operations when not deployed in the field, including machining, fabrication, or quality control assistance as required.
• Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot technical and operational challenges in both field and shop environments.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications, such as OSHA 30 and a Class B Master's License.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required, estimated at 20%-100% depending on workload and project demand .

Qualifications

• Strong work ethic with a willingness to "wear many hats" in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of ASME welding practices and pressure vessel field work.
• Demonstrated leadership and field crew management experience.
• Ability to work both independently and in team environments under demanding conditions.
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Project.

Preferred Skills

• Strong problem-solving ability in dynamic field environments.
• Effective communication across field, engineering, and shop teams.
• Customer-facing experience with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience with ASME Section VIII and NBIC repairs/alterations.
