Position Overview

Title: Carpenter

Reports to: General Superintendent

The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled carpentry tasks on commercial construction sites, including framing, drywall installation, concrete formwork, door and hardware installation, and general finish work. The ideal candidate has experience in commercial building practices and works well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to:

• Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
• Perform selective hand demolition in a safe and controlled manner.
• Complete basic concrete work, including forming, placement, and scaffold setup.
• Construct rough carpentry projects in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
• Install millwork and perform finish carpentry work.
• Hang and install drywall.
• Perform drywall finishing, including taping, spackling, sanding, and surface preparation.
• Install and frame metal stud systems.
• Install acoustical tile (ACT) ceiling systems.
• Install acoustical ceiling components and related materials.
• Install doors, frames, hardware, and associated accessories.
• Safely operate and maintain a variety of hand tools.
• Safely operate and maintain power tools and equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including jobsite cleanup and material management.
• Exhibit commitment to a safe workplace and worksite.
  • Maintain applicable construction or general industry trainings or certifications as required.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) before starting work.
  • Complete Pre-Task Plans (PTP) where required.
  • Report any HSE violations and unsafe findings to Boyle person in charge.
  • Notify Boyle person in charge of any PPE infractions by Boyle personnel, subcontractors, or anyone else onsite.
  • Notify Boyle person in charge or Director of Safety immediately in the event of an incident, accident, near-miss, if an OSHA/EPA/Country official arrives on-site or when a unique hazard arises.
  • Consult with Director of Safety during job-site observations and audits to review and evaluate any identified safety observations or recommendations.

Qualifications and Other Skills and Abilities:

• Completion of a recognized trade program or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant commercial carpentry experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
• Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and project needs.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required, or the ability to obtain certification through company-sponsored training within a designated timeframe.

Essential Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in an environment which may include fumes, odors, chemicals, sawdust, and ash
• Ability to work in an environment with noises in the range of 30-85 dB
• Ability to lift or push up to one hundred (100) pounds, or in excess thereof, with the use

of proper equipment or assistance

• Ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
• Ability to use hand tools safely
• Ability to use electric tools safely
• Ability to walk up and down steps, climb ladders, staging and scaffolding and on uneven ground
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, stretch and work in tight spaces
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle
