Job Summary:

Student Recreation at RRCC is seeking Promotions Assistants to support the marketing, outreach, and promotional efforts of the Student Recreation Center. This position works closely with the Promotions Student Coordinator, SRC Professional Staff, and fellow Promotions Assistants to increase awareness of programs, services, events, and opportunities offered throughout Student Recreation.
Promotions Assistants will assist with a variety of promotion and engagement initiatives, including social media content creation, tabling and in-person outreach, photography, graphic design, promotional campaigns, and special events. Based on individual interests, skills, and professional development goals, the student may have opportunities to gain experience in marketing strategy, content creation, event promotion, and other creative projects. Depending on degree/certificate path, a Promotions Assistant may be eligible for academic Internship credit (each academic department can confirm if this is a viable for credit internship).
This position reports to the Adventure & Sport Programs Coordinator within Student Recreation. The work schedule for this position is flexible based on class schedules and departmental needs and may include occasional evening or special event hours at the Lakewood and/or Arvada campus location.
This is a student employee position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session and up to 28 hours each week during academic breaks or breaks between terms while an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six credits.

Required Qualifications

• Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, photography, videography, business, recreation, and/or a related field.
• For work study employment:
o Must be an RRCC student and have been granted a work study award for the semester the student is seeking employment and maintain eligibility.
o Must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for all credit hours.
• For student hourly employment:
o Must be an RRCC student and enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using social media platforms for organizations, clubs, businesses, or personal projects.
• Experience with Canva, photography, videography, or content creation.
• Experience with event planning, customer service, outreach, or student engagement activities.
• Strong interest in developing professional marketing and communication skills.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
• Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
• This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
• The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Hourly Pay

The starting hourly pay for this position is $19.37 - $19.89. This is a part-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session and up to 28 hours each week during academic breaks or breaks between terms while an RRCC student, depending on need and budget availability. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Benefits

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with SB20-205, Sick Leave for Employees, accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.

Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to Colorado PERA at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security. RRCC/CCCS student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA. RRCC/CCCS offers three tax-deferred investment plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and 457.
