Allied Health/Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Pathway Teacher Job DescriptionSchool: Stratford High SchoolReports to: Principal and Director of Career & Community LearningDescriptionStratford Public Schools seeks a dynamic and student-centered Allied Health/Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Pathway Teacher at Stratford High School (Grades 9-12). The purpose of the Allied Health/CNA Pathway is to prepare students for careers in healthcare through rigorous classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, clinical learning opportunities, and industry-recognized credential attainment.The Allied Health/CNA Teacher will facilitate engaging, authentic learning experiences aligned with the Connecticut Career and Technical Education (CTE) Frameworks, Connecticut State Department of Education standards, Connecticut Department of Public Health Nurse Aide Training Program requirements, and industry expectations. Students will develop foundational knowledge and technical skills in healthcare while exploring career pathways in nursing, allied health, and related medical professions.The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare partners, and community organizations to create meaningful learning experiences that promote college and career readiness. We are seeking candidates who foster a culture of professionalism, compassion, critical thinking, collaboration, and lifelong learning.Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Duties/ResponsibilitiesStratford Public Schools strives to attract highly qualified educators with a passion for preparing students for success in college, careers, and life.The Allied Health/CNA Teacher will:Teach, reinforce, remediate, and ensure mastery of Allied Health and Certified Nurse Assistant curriculum with individual students, small groups, and whole classes.Implement curriculum aligned to Connecticut Career and Technical Education standards, Connecticut Department of Public Health Nurse Aide Training Program requirements, and industry expectations.Prepare students for successful completion of the Connecticut Nurse Aide competency examination and other applicable industry-recognized credentials.Provide instruction in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, infection control, safety procedures, patient care skills, communication, professionalism, ethics, confidentiality (HIPAA), and healthcare career exploration.Supervise and facilitate hands-on laboratory instruction utilizing healthcare simulation equipment and instructional technology.Collaborate with the clinical nurse supervisor to ensure clinical experiences in accordance with Connecticut Department of Public Health regulations and district procedures.Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare facilities, colleges, universities, and community organizations to support student learning and workforce development.Integrate employability skills, leadership development, and Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) opportunities such as HOSA – Future Health Professionals.Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment, ensuring equipment, supplies, and instructional materials meet current healthcare standards.Hold high expectations for all students while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom culture.Organize and utilize a variety of instructional strategies, simulation experiences, project-based learning, and technology to maximize student engagement and achievement.Continuously assess student progress, provide meaningful feedback to students and families, and adjust instruction based on data.Collaborate with school counselors, special education staff, English learner staff, administration, healthcare partners, and fellow CTE educators to support student success.Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, advisory committee meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.Maintain current knowledge of healthcare industry trends, regulations, and instructional best practices.Complete additional duties and professional responsibilities as assigned by the administration.QualificationsMinimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Valid Connecticut teaching certification appropriate for Health Occupations, Career and Technical Education (103 or Trade & Industrial Occupations (098), or eligibility for Connecticut certification.Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing preferred or as required for Connecticut Nurse Aide Training Program approval.Meet all Connecticut Department of Public Health requirements to serve as a Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor.Minimum of two years of recent nursing experience, including experience in long-term care or other settings consistent with Connecticut Nurse Aide Training Program requirements.Experience teaching or supervising adult or secondary learners preferred.Knowledge of Connecticut Career and Technical Education standards and healthcare workforce expectations.Experience coordinating clinical experiences and maintaining compliance with state regulations preferred.Demonstrated ability to implement activity-based, project-based, and experiential learning.Strong communication, organizational, collaboration, and leadership skills.Working knowledge of educational technology, electronic health documentation systems, and instructional software.Current CPR/BLS Instructor certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.Ability to establish and maintain productive partnerships with healthcare providers, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations.Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) curriculum.Experience working with secondary Career and Technical Education programs.Familiarity with HOSA or other Career and Technical Student Organizations.Experience with dual enrollment, workforce development, or healthcare career pathway programming.SalaryIn accordance with the Stratford Education Association (SEA) Contract.Application ProcessTo view the posting, visit the Employment section of the Stratford Public Schools website or apply through the district's online application system.
