Mobile Diesel Mechanic II, $2500 New Hire Bonus

Cox Fleet is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, serving fleets across the United States. We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.

DUTIES

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems; starters/alternators; fan clutches; engine electronics; diesel steering systems; engines (gas and diesel); transmissions (manual and automatic); clutches; differentials; and more. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems; starters/alternators; air‑conditioning systems; fan clutches; engine electronics; diesel steering systems; engines; transmissions; clutches; differentials; etc. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, assess accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks. Document work per company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via the company‑issued iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work independently, managing one’s own daily schedule. Maintain high productivity and work within or close to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain repair estimate approvals, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the company‑issued service truck through safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field. A candidate may also have a different combination such as a higher degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED or 5 years of experience. Possess a set of hand tools necessary for the required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. Provide a current DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining, or obtain a DOT physical if less than four months. Be at least 21 years old in accordance with interstate operating authority commerce regulations. Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Compensation Hourly pay rate ranges from $32.07 to $48.13 per hour. The base rate may vary within this range based on location and the selected candidate’s skills and experience.
