Job SummaryThe Corporate Quality Improvement Nurse works with the staff of the facility in all resident care and resident care related areas to provide assistance in identifying problems and assisting department heads in correcting and in monitoring ongoing corrective actions, with the primary objective being improved resident care and compliance with State and Federal regulations. This is done in an efficient, timely, and professional manner with consideration of both health care and legal responsibilities of the resident, the facility, and the employees. Guidelines for Q.I. visits will be governed pursuant to the Quality Improvement Nurse Checklist (Facility Visit Report).Reports to: Chief Nursing OfficerEducation and Experience Requirements:The Corporate Quality Improvement Nurse must be a Registered Nurse (RN) graduate of an accredited school of nursing currently registered with the state agency for nursing licensure, and hold a valid RN license in the State of employment. Must have long-term care experience, preferably in areas of nurse supervision, Medicare and MDS process, with knowledge of State and Federal regulations and the survey process. Knowledge of other departments within the long-term care facility also required.Responsibilities:Evaluate facility services to include resident care, quality of care, staff knowledge and training, and interdepartmental relationships with services as related to care, to determine where facility is deficient in practices, and where/when corrective actions need to be implemented by, the Administrator and DON of facilityPromotes improvement in nursing care through observation and assessment of the nursing staffResponsible for the professional nursing knowledge and skills required to maintain high standards of resident careAssists in problem solving related to nursing serviceActs as a liaison with other consultantsCooperates with management in overall planning, evaluating and initiating of policies and proceduresKeeps current and knowledgeable of new directives and updates manuals as needs ariseUpdates and presents instructional materials to personnel at seminars, orientation programs and special instructional sessionsIs available for assistance in orientation of new DON’sVisits nursing homes regularly and upon request, evaluates overall function of the nursing department and provides written reports and recommendations as requiredAdvise the DON regarding coordination of nursing services with other departmentsAssist the DON with the evaluation of all nursing staffAssist the DON in conducting in-service sessions of nursing staffAssist the DON in interpreting the goals and objectives of the facility to nursing service personnelAssist the Administrator and DON in review of Medicare programQualifications:Possesses a valid RN license in good standing with the state Board of NursingDemonstrates leadership and managerial abilityPossesses effective interpersonal relationshipsHas the ability to organize, plan, and in-service staff as requiredIs capable of implementing needed changes as determined through quality assessment and improvement process in cooperation with the Administrator and DONIs capable of making sound judgements and maintaining high professional standardsIs courteous in working with residents, families, and staffMaintains a neat, well-groomed, and professional appearance at all timesHas a desire to work in a geriatric setting to advise on prospective needsMust be willing to be in the facility working with the staff of the shifts as need indicatesMust be willing to be in the facility during weekday as well as weekend hours as need indicatesMust demonstrate ability to follow and provide education, company policies, procedures, and practices without direct supervisionMust demonstrate evaluate the geriatric resident’s needs and implement systems to meet these needsMust demonstrate ability to evaluate nursing staff needs and implement systems to assure staff education is provided to provide quality careMust demonstrate the ability to function as a cooperative team member with the nursing, as well as all disciplines in the facilityMust have a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screening examinationMaintains professional liability insurance #J-18808-Ljbffr
