Warehouse Supervisor
The job of Warehouse Supervisor is done for the purpose of supervising warehousing and delivery services and activities; overseeing assigned personnel; providing information to others; and scheduling work assignments within established timeframes and standards. This job reports to Operations Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct annual and semi-annual inventories for verifying stock and identifying losses.
- Coordinate with district personnel for implementing and maintaining services and programs.
- Directs department functions for prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel.
- Inspects warehouse equipment for maintaining equipment in safe operating condition.
- Maintain warehouse for providing a clean, organized layout, and safe work environment.
- Manage warehouse for providing required materials and services.
- Participate in meetings for conveying and gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepare orders and inventory stock for meeting delivery requirements.
- Recommend policies, procedures, and actions for providing direction for meeting the district's goals and objectives.
- Research a variety of work-related topics for recommending purchases, contracts and maintaining district wide services.
- Respond to inquiries from a variety of stakeholders for providing information, direction, and referral for addressing inquiry.
- Review purchase orders, contracts, bids for ensuring vendor compliance with established guidelines.
- Supervise warehouse operations for ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
Other Functions:
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include using materials handling equipment including operating forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.; operating standard office equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include materials handling and storage.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment.
Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with diverse groups: meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; and working as part of a team.
Responsibility:
Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; supervising the use of funds. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services.
Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
