Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist | Bolingbrook, Illinois

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field
• State teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
• Experience supporting students with hearing differences in school settings
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signing Exact English (SEE)
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Mobility to travel between designated school locations

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in mainstream or resource room settings
• Support with language development, self-advocacy, and academic achievement
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and school staff to ensure access to curriculum
• Consult with families regarding student progress and appropriate resources
• Participate in IEP meetings, develop goals, and monitor student progress
• Provide guidance on assistive technology and classroom modifications
• Advocate for student needs and help foster inclusive, accessible learning environments
