Newburyport, MA • Anna Jaques Hospital • Part-time • DayWhen you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.The unit coordinator is an active member of the health care team, who demonstrates strong clerical duties, the ability to prioritize, courtesy with communications in person and on the phone, and who demonstrates professional accountability.Job Description:Key Responsibilities:Operational Coordination:Oversee and manage front desk operations for the Labor & Delivery unit.Ensure accurate patient registration, admission, and discharge documentation.Maintain and update patient charts in electronic health record (EHR) systems.Coordinate communication between physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments.Demonstrates effective organizational skills by prioritizing and completing assignments within the shift.Demonstrates ability to prioritize by providing prompt and accurate follow through.Customer Service:Promptly answers the telephone identifying self and the department.Presents department and self in a positive manner to patients, visitors and other employeesQuality & Process Improvement:Meets professional accountability regarding individual professional growth and development, customer relations, confidentiality, participation in hospital/unit-based committeesFollows hospital policiesParticipates in Quality processes both organizational and unit basedOther duties:Prepares birth certificates from initiation to completion and routes then to the city clerk within 10 days.Continually updates changes in the computer software as mandated by the Boston Registry and Vital Statistics and the Department of Public HealthCompletes other duties as assignedQualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent requiredExperience:Unit coordinator or administrative assistance experience in a medical setting preferred.Prior experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record and Microsoft office suite preferredSkills:Strong organizational and multitasking abilitiesExcellent Communication and interpersonal skillsPublic Notary preferred, required within 6 weeks of hirePay Range:$19.50 – $26.24The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
