Since 2009 we have represented clients in real estate and commercial disputes, and we approach every matter the same way: we build it for trial from the first day. That means deadlines are met early, filings go out clean, and the trial notebook is not assembled at the last minute. We are small by design, which means the paralegal role here is not clerical support at the edge of the case. It is central to how the case gets tried. The role We are looking for a litigation paralegal who is already running a docket independently. Not assisting with one. Running it. You know what is due, in which case, in which court, before anyone asks you. You keep the calendar updated, get the filings in, and build the trial prep that lets the lawyers walk into the courtroom ready. This is a hands-on role in a busy practice, working directly with Julie Pettit. You will have real ownership of your cases and a direct line to the person making the decisions on them. What you will be doing Calendaring and docket control Owning the firm calendar: docketing every deadline from scheduling orders, computing response, objection, and dispositive motion deadlines under the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and the Federal Rules, and tracking trial settings, mediations, and hearings Flagging what is coming far enough ahead that nothing is handled in a scramble Keeping the status of every matter current and knowing where each case stands without having to look it up Filing and case management E-filing in Texas state courts through eFileTexas and in federal court through ECF, including checking each filing against local rules and judge-specific requirements Preparing pleadings, motions, and proposed orders for filing, and handling citations, service, and returns Building documents in Westlaw Form Builder Maintaining matters, files, calendars, and tasks in Clio Working day to day in Google Workspace Discovery Assembling and formatting discovery requests and responses Managing document collection, review, Bates numbering, productions, and privilege logs Preparing subpoenas, records requests, and deposition notices, and scheduling court reporters and videographers Trial preparation Building trial notebooks, exhibit lists, and exhibit sets in both paper and electronic form Preparing witness lists, deposition designations and counter-designations, and demonstratives Coordinating witness availability, subpoenas, and trial logistics Assembling the jury charge and pretrial filings Going to the courthouse and handling what comes up there Client contact Communicating with clients on scheduling, document collection, and case status, with the judgment to know what to answer and what to route to the lawyer What we are looking for 5+ years as a litigation paralegal in Texas, currently carrying your own docket Real command of deadline computation under the TRCP and the FRCP. This is the part of the job we cannot teach on the fly. Proficiency with eFileTexas and federal ECF Working knowledge of Clio, Westlaw Form Builder, and Google Workspace Trial experience. You have built the notebooks, sat through pretrial, and been in the courtroom. Meticulous attention to detail, and the composure to stay organized when three matters need something on the same afternoon Sound judgment about what you can handle yourself and when to raise something Discretion with confidential client information Paralegal certificate or degree is a plus, but a track record of running a docket well matters more How we work This is an in-office role at 1900 N. Pearl Street, Suite 1740, in downtown Dallas. We are a small team and we do our best work in the same room.
