Description Position Type : Full-time, Non-Exempt Work Location : Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA Pay : $26/hr - $29.22/hr + $7/hr (Health & Wellness benefit through Union) Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. We are currently seeking to hire an Aircraft Mechanic Helper at our Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA facility to provide Aerial Target Operations and Maintenance Support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons, Pacific Target and Marine Operations Division. The primary duties of this position typically include (but are not limited to): Perform under direct and indirect supervision conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on targets and basic troubleshooting techniques. Assist under supervision target decontamination process/procedures. Should understand and be able to perform at organizational level. Assist in organizational level repair of engines or structures. Maintenance work on BQM‑74, BQM‑177, BQM‑34, GQM‑163 aerial targets and associated support equipment. Work will include work/teardown on the target airframe and assist on electronics, avionics, and associated launch systems and support equipment. Perform testing under supervision to ensure functionality in accordance with procedures defined in NAVAIR manuals using specified test equipment. Operate and be qualified (technically and medically) in forklift operations and overhead crane operations. Perform and understand basic tool control and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Additional duties may include (but not be limited to): Qualified in the handling and use of associated ordnance in support of target operations. Ordnance could include but not limited to small CADS (pyrotechnic devices), RATO/JATO, and flares. Work in a technical capacity as a team member or team on frequent trips to field activities & vendors. Other duties as assigned (parachute packer, HAZMAT…) Work Conditions Conditions will vary, however, most work will be performed in enclosed buildings. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. unassisted and 50-100 lbs. when assisted by others. Work Schedule: currently 9/80 schedule (Mon Thurs 9 hours; alternating Friday off with every other Friday being an 8-hr work day). Overtime will occasionally be required. Travel will be required on routine basis but the primary work location is NAWCWD Point Mugu, CA. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Require two (2) years' experience in performing general maintenance and repair. Works well with others as a member of a team. Familiarity with naval target maintenance (CNAFI 4790) programs - Desired. Possess basic mechanical‑avionics background or engine experience - Desired. Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment. U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain an interim U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to starting and a final Secret clearance within 90 days of hire date and maintain your clearance throughout your employment.
