Outside Sales Representative

Rugby Architectural Building Products is a wholesale distributor of specialty building products, operating out of 26 branches throughout the United States. Our primary business is non-structural architectural grade building products sold principally to customers who create and produce end-products for the commercial, industrial, retail, residential and institutional markets.

We're growing and looking for a driven, results-oriented Outside Sales Representative experienced with building materials to join our team! In this role, you'll be responsible for expanding our customer base and driving sales growth from Portland, ME down to Andover, MA. Territory includes all of NH and some of VT. You'll represent our full product line, build strong customer relationships, and identify new business opportunities within your territory.

Your Day-to-Day: to excel in this role, you will need to...

• Sell our products to current customers in the region through a focus on customer service. In charge of sales throughout the territory, you will be rewarded based on your ability to manage sales throughout the region and customer base.
• Grow sales by increasing our customer base to new customers - as an Outside Sales Representative you will be expected to call on potential new customers throughout the territory.
• Communicate the needs of the customer with the branch to better ensure optimized product mix and increase future sales.
• Communicate with inside sales staff to ensure a coordinated and synchronized sales effort. Our Outside Sales Representatives lead the conversation and develop our business through sales growth and customer service.
• Accompany vendors' sales representatives as needed, calling on appropriate customer accounts to satisfy vendor concerns.

• You have a minimum of 6-10 years sales experience, ideally in an outside sales or territory sales representative role, and ideally in the lumber, plywood or building materials industry.
• You have knowledge of millwork and understand 2-step distribution.
• You can travel as needed throughout the territory.
• You have excellent customer service skills, with knowledge of DMSi Agility software a plus.
• As you will be driving a company vehicle, we consider this a Safety Sensitive position, subject to routine drug screening.
