Summary Under the limited supervision of the Sterile Processing Manager this position will be responsible for functioning as a lead liaison by performing quality audits to instrumentation accuracy, assuring sterilization of equipment and instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Prepares operating room case carts, sterile trays and supplies for all areas of the hospital and assumes responsibility to ensure staff assignments are being carried out for daily operation of the department. Responsibilities Directs and assists the daily task assignments for completion of work each day. Prepares, reviews, and revises documents to meet all quality standards. Monitors and maintains training requirements to assure completion of facility and department standards. Ensures that inventory activities and reports are monitored weekly. Decontaminates, restocks and assembles case carts and surgical trays. Ensures specialty carts are stocked and ready for immediate use. Prepares accurate reports of revisions and modifications as required. Assists with immediate need requests from all units daily. Works with daily, weekly and monthly reports to assure quality performance standards are completed. Performs quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure sterilization equipment and instruments are functioning properly. Inspects equipment, instruments, and packaging for cleanliness, defects and/or sterilization records. Performs quality checks and follow up education. Performs other duties as assigned. Other Information KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS Knowledge of medical supplies, instruments and equipment. Knowledge of industry guidelines and standards, and best practices. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and anatomy. Knowledge of and use of manufacturer instructions for use for cleaning, decontamination and sterilizing medical equipment and surgical instrumentation. Knowledge of safety precautions/procedures for operating vehicles, equipment while transporting bio hazardous materials. Knowledge of organizing, containing, and transporting items of varying compounds, textures or quantities. Knowledge of applicable computer systems and software programs. Skill in effectively managing and leading staff, and delegating tasks and authority. Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. Skill in using applicable equipment and instruments. Skill in effective oral communication and telephone etiquette. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education. mInimum Experience Qualification Non-supervisory – Five (5) years Sterile Processing or Operating Room Technician experience. An equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Current HSPA Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification. Current HSPA Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification. HSPA Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification, must be obtained during the first year in this position and remain current.
