Chief Engineer, Data Centers

Salary: $140,000 - 180,000 per year Requirements:

• We require at least 4 years of technical experience in building engineering, with a strong foundation in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance.
• We require prior experience working in data centers or raised-floor environments.
• We require strong customer service and interpersonal abilities.
• We require Universal EPA 608 Certification.
• We require any licenses mandated by the local authority having jurisdiction.
• We require working knowledge of computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Google Suite tools.
• We require 2 years of trades school or a documented apprenticeship in a relevant craft.
• We require a valid drivers license.
• We prefer expertise in one specific craft area, such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations, or Material Handling Equipment.
• We prefer familiarity with building automation systems and fire/life safety systems.
• We require authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

• We manage a team of data center engineers at a large hyperscale campus.
• We ensure safe, efficient operations and support 100% uptime across the site.
• We keep site equipment maintained and help the team complete daily assignments successfully.
• We make sure team training is completed as assigned and address day-to-day HR matters when needed.
• We guide performance management, hold regular sync meetings, deliver annual reviews, and take part in calibration and hiring activities.
• We ensure proper shift coverage for all critical environment spaces.
• We complete hazard assessments, follow safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and meet local code and ordinance requirements.
• We complete required safety training on schedule.
• We oversee the MOP creation process and support the operation and maintenance of critical equipment.
• We coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with the planner scheduler.
• We use manufacturer O&Ms to help build and deliver training for site operations teams.
• We conduct facility inspections and due diligence reviews, documenting any conditions that affect occupancy or operations.
• We serve as the first point of contact for service-impacting mechanical plant events.
• We assist with troubleshooting, mitigation, root cause analysis, and customer presentations.
• We provide after-hours support for the mechanical plant, including 24x7 response.
• We use Corrigo to track all work performed and keep work orders accurate and current.
• We escalate customer-impacting incidents in line with contractual SLAs.
• We attend required work and safety meetings and carry out additional duties as assigned.
• We perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 80 lbs, climbing ladders and heights, bending, kneeling, stooping, overhead work, and operating in extreme hot or cold conditions.
