The opportunity:

Thousands of adult learners come to Stepful to change their lives, often while balancing full-time jobs, families, and financial pressure. Our Student Experience teams build the classroom experience for all of our learners. Every step of their journey matters, from their first day of class through graduation, certification and final licensing exams. As the Product Manager for Student Experience, you'll own the product that carries them through that journey. You won't just optimize what exists. You'll question it, rethink how we deliver outcomes, and build experiences that help more students finish, get certified, and get hired.

This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Product Management and partners closely with the Student Experience team, including student success coaches, instructors, and career services, as well as design, engineering, data, and marketing.

This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our NYC office, requiring three days/week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in office.

What you'll do:

• Own the product strategy and roadmap for the end-to-end student experience for both our D2C and B2B2C business, from onboarding and live instruction through graduation.

• Challenge long-held assumptions about how students learn and progress, and bring bold, evidence-backed ideas for improving completion, certification pass rates, and job outcomes.

• Partner closely with the Student Experience team to understand where students get stuck, and decide what should be solved with product, with process, or with people.

• Talk to students regularly through interviews, usability sessions, and feedback loops so their real needs shape what we build.

• Run a disciplined experimentation program with A/B tests and rapid prototypes to learn quickly and scale what works.

• Collaborate with designers and engineers to ship intuitive, mobile-friendly experiences for learners who are often studying on the go.

• Use AI and automation to deliver more personal support at scale, so tech empowers our coaches and instructors instead of replacing them.

• Define and track success metrics tied to student engagement, retention, completion, satisfaction (NPS), and job placement. We're not a feature factory and have no intention of becoming one!

What you'll bring:

• 7+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record building consumer-facing products

• Proven success moving engagement, retention, or conversion metrics for a large user base, with launches you can point to

• Strong product fundamentals: structured discovery, hypothesis-driven experimentation, focused prioritization, roadmap ownership, and clear documentation

• A deep, genuine obsession with users, and comfort turning qualitative insights and messy data into clear product decisions

• Comfort working with complex data sets and writing SQL to generate your own insights

• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to earn trust quickly with operators, instructors, execs, and technical teams

• The ability to clearly articulate tradeoffs, make decisions with imperfect information, and find the 80/20 quickly

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including crafting narratives that drive alignment and action

Bonus points if:

• You've built products in EdTech, healthcare, workforce development, or another mission-driven industry

• You've designed experiences for adult learners, career changers, or underserved populations

• You've built products that blend self-serve software with human support, such as coaching, tutoring, or customer success

Compensation:

New Hire Base Salary Bands:
Senior I - $143,000-$181,000
Senior II - $167,000-$211,000

Please note we do not have a bonus structure at this time so all cash compensation will come in the form of base salary. The total compensation package will also include our benefits package and an equity (ISOs) package.

Compensation for this role will fall within the pay range listed and will be determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications as well as interview evaluation. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
