About the Position

Job Title: RN II - Tele Float Pool - MedSurg/CV/Neuro Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days + 4 weekend shifts per schedule (Sat/Sun) + must work 2 of 3 major holidays Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: - ACLS - BLS - NIHSS Must-Have: - Ability to titrate cardiac drips - Pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to signing contract (max 2 attempts) - Pass a simulation lab assessment on the first day of orientation Description: Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of the offer. Failure to pass will result in being sent home and listed as do not use for 6 months. The position requires floating between multiple units including telemetry and medical-surgical. Notification of campus and unit will be given 1.5 hours prior to shift start. There may be mid-shift floating to other units. Must clock out before transferring between campuses. The typical patient population includes post catheterization procedures and general telemetry patients. Common medication titrations include Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine (to titrate down only). No pediatric patients will be cared for; age limit is 15 years and older. Charge nurses will not take a patient assignment but will oversee the unit. Patient ratios will vary based on unit, with 1:3-4 for telemetry and 1:4 for medical-surgical. All shifts are 12 hours, with alternating weekend requirements. Additional notes may include the use of centralized monitoring systems. Travelers will be oriented on the specific units and patient populations they will care for. Floating to similar or lower acuity units will be required. The position may involve working with a clinical supervisor for additional support. There is a focus on providing care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring and post-surgical recovery.
