Lead Product Designer - PFM

Product Design Team Leader – Visibility & Spend Control

Lead our Visibility and Spend Control team, guiding users through their financial data and first steps on their journey. The role blends design leadership with hands‑on work, overseeing a team of designers and contributing to the overall user experience strategy across features such as Spending, Recurring, Transaction Details, Custom Categories, Net Worth, and Budgets.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the GPM to develop and drive the PFM product vision and strategy in alignment with business objectives.
• Coordinate design resources, prioritise projects, and manage a small team of designers, fostering growth and excellence.
• Work with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data specialists to align on product vision and ensure design feasibility.
• Maintain and evolve the end‑to‑end design process with Product Design Ops.
• Champion user‑centered design principles across PFM features, ensuring intuitive, accessible experiences.
• Use data analytics and user feedback to inform and iterate design choices.
• Present design concepts and strategies to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Research team to design, create, and test prototypes.
• Maintain and evolve the company’s design system with Rocket Money Design Systems.
• Propose innovative ways for users to engage with Rocket Money’s services and improve the design process.
• Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
• Participate in the recruitment process to onboard top design talent.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in product or UX design, with a portfolio that shows clarity, rigor, and impact.
• 2+ years of leadership or mentoring experience with designers.
• Proficient in Figma; experience with Sketch is highly valued.
• Strong understanding of how design translates into code and excellent communication with engineering teams.
• Effective executor and skilled mentor, capable of guiding initiatives from concept to completion.
• Empathetic leader focused on user impact and collaborative teamwork.
• Strategic thinker and problem–solver who thrives on challenges and drives innovation.
• Open‑mind, willing to negotiate and lead by example for project success and team growth.

Additional information: Salary range of $140,000 – $170,000/year + bonus + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skill, and experience.
