Technical Services Technician Level 1 (Texas)

Job Title and Location Technical Service Technician Level1 – Texas (full‑time, on‑site). Requires 50% annual travel. Job Number: J13349. Responsibilities Direct and take responsibility for safety regulations and work procedures for the team. Understand, follow, and communicate safety regulations and work procedures. Coordinate both third‑party and SOLV O&M repairs. Create value‑added services to existing contractual work. Field‑install electrical components. Train and support various regions in PV installations. Support SOLV sites with various O&M needs. Implement repairs to unfamiliar solar equipment, systems, and plants with minimal training. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations. Complete other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Advanced computer operation skills. Advanced working knowledge of protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters, and transformers. Ability to pass an exam on international and domestic electrical schematics and symbols. Ability to pass an exam on electrical troubleshooting. Valid NFPA70e Safety Training certification. Remain current in all safety and technical trainings. Demonstrated ability to be self‑sufficient and safe under any conditions. Effective verbal and written English communication skills. Effective organizational skills. Ability to work well with PM, management, OCC, HV, and Compliance teams. Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions. Availability to work on an on‑call basis (weekends or after‑hours). Ability to collaborate with other technicians to complete tasks. Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicle. Ability to assess safety items and issue Stop Work if concerns are raised. Ability to create and adhere to site‑specific schedules. Knowledge of complete site scope and contract. Prioritization of levels of response to issues and determination of most effective use of resources. Interaction with asset managers and owner’s representatives, including conference calls and onsite meetings. Ownership of facilities and repairs, providing assurance of services rendered. Provision of detailed costs and services needed to PM teams for accurate estimates. Vendor management and understanding of requested scopes. Knowledge of safety aspects for contractors onsite and appropriate response procedures. Training of other technicians and assessment of strengths and weaknesses on onsite items. Demonstrated leadership qualities to inspire technicians and the SOLV environment. Strong verbal and written communications. Inverter repairs and major component replacement. Cable terminations – low voltage and medium voltage. Fiber‑optic troubleshooting and repairs. Large crew management and detailed construction scheduling experience. Knowledge of basic SCADA communications protocol. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Occasional exposure to weather, harsh outdoor environment, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, toxic/caustic chemicals. Requires frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 50lbs or more. Must possess depth perception, hearing, and ability to see details at close and far distances. Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high or difficult‑to‑access places. Noise intensity may be high.
