CLASS TITLE: SPEECH THERAPIST PRIMARY FUNCTION : To help reduce or eliminate speech and language impairments that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program by:
Demonstrating Professional Leadership Assessing and Communicating Learning Results
Demonstrating Knowledge of Content Reflecting/Evaluating Teaching/Learning
Designing and Planning Instruction Collaborating with Colleagues/Parents/Others
Creating and Maintaining Learning Climate Engaging in Professional Development
Implementing and Managing Instruction Demonstrating Implementation of Technology
BASIC REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTION Implements all rules and regulations, policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by the Board of Education and the School SBDM Council.

BASIC REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTION Implements all rules and regulations, policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by the Board of Education and the School SBDM Council.
- Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
- Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and language impaired children.
- Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, referring and identifying suspected speech and language impairments.
- Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, fluency, voice, and language impairments.
- Provides hearing screenings for specified grade levels and referrals.
- Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
- Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members.
- Keeps ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.
- Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students.
- Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
- Adheres to the professional code of ethics.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Maintains a professional and appropriate appearance.
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Is familiar with and incorporates the use of technology in daily tasks.
- Works the gate for two athletic events per year.
- Duties may include performance of health services, for which training will be provided.
