Railcar Repair Technician

Job Description Railcar Repair Technician conducts all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars, demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and a strong focus on safety. Responsibilities Use current repair procedures for railcar repair. Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance and perform necessary repairs. Provide customer support, meeting expectations and ensuring customer satisfaction. Handle clerical duties such as invoicing, inspection records, and work order information. Maintain and renew all required certifications, demonstrating familiarity with AAR rules and regulations. Complete other work‑related tasks as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Mechanical aptitude with problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Proficiency with hand tools (pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets) and equipment for welding slag or spatter removal. Ability to perform basic railcar repairs and inspections. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Commitment to safety and adherence to proper procedures. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Valid driver’s license. Travel up to 50% of the time (weekly local travel, regional day trips, and possible overnight trips). Physical capability to stoop for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds from the ground, climb ladders, work at elevated heights, perform a FIT test, and use a respirator.
