Location: Waukegan, IL Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Engineer for a full-time permanent opportunity with our client in Waukegan, IL. This position will be responsible for civil and structural engineering design supporting heavy industrial projects, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, site development, and related infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical capabilities and experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to successfully execute projects from design through completion.

Responsibilities:

• Perform civil and structural engineering design for assigned projects in accordance with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Prepare engineering calculations, analyses, and designs for structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, and related structural systems.
• Develop civil engineering plans and specifications for site development and infrastructure projects.
• Apply applicable engineering standards, design criteria, software, and industry codes throughout project execution.
• Ensure designs comply with client specifications and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
• Support site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, drainage, and stormwater management activities as required.
• Organize and coordinate engineering and design activities for assigned projects and proposals.
• Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, and other engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with and review work performed by external engineering partners and consultants.
• Identify and document project scope changes and variances in accordance with established cost and quality management processes.
• Collaborate with engineering disciplines, project management, and other internal teams to support successful project execution.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, project teams, and other stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of civil and/or structural engineering experience.
• Strong experience with heavy industrial structural steel and foundation design.
• Demonstrated knowledge of structural steel and reinforced concrete analysis and design.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, AWS, API, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Proficiency with RISA-3D or similar finite element analysis-based structural analysis and design software.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Navisworks, and/or Civil 3D preferred.
• Experience with site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory approvals preferred.
• Knowledge of site development, hydrology, stormwater management, and environmental engineering principles preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within one year preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• General business and project management acumen.
