Payroll Manager

About the Opportunity

Client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the full-cycle payroll function for a high-volume, multi-state workforce. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in payroll administration, payroll tax compliance, and process improvement within a construction, manufacturing, or similarly complex operational environment . This position will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Experience with Vista by Viewpoint is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume employee population.
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll payments through direct deposit and other payment methods.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, timekeeping, leave balances, and personal information.
• Partner closely with Human Resources and Accounting to process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits deductions, and employee data updates.
• Oversee all payroll tax functions, including federal, state, and local tax filings, reconciliations, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax reports.
• Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Develop, update, and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws, payroll regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Generate payroll reporting and analytics for leadership, including earnings, taxes, deductions, leave balances, and labor-related metrics.
• Support payroll audits and compliance reviews as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Qualifications/Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of payroll management or senior payroll administration experience.
• High-volume payroll processing experience.
• Strong multi-state payroll experience.
• Extensive payroll tax knowledge, including tax filings, reconciliations, compliance, and audit support.
• Experience within a construction, manufacturing, industrial, or similarly complex environment.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, analysis, and data management.
• Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Vista by Viewpoint
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification.
• Experience managing payroll audits and compliance assessments.
• Knowledge of prevailing wage, union payroll, or certified payroll processes is a plus.
