Quality Technician

The Quality Technician performs incoming inspection of materials and components, supports supplier quality activities, and maintains accurate quality documentation in a fast-growing manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring products meet specifications by using precision measurement tools, interpreting engineering drawings, and collaborating closely with suppliers and internal teams. The position offers clear growth opportunities into supplier quality and broader quality roles as the organization continues to expand.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving inspection on incoming materials and components to verify they meet specified requirements and quality standards.
• Identify, segregate, and disposition nonconforming materials received from suppliers in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor and update inspection plans in the ERP system to reflect engineering changes, supplier performance, and evolving quality requirements.
• Retain and archive supplier material certificates, certificates of conformance, and inspection data in line with documented procedures.
• Gather, review, and retain supplier PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) deliverables to support product and process validation.
• Help determine supplier-at-fault issues identified in production by reviewing data, inspection results, and relevant documentation.
• Communicate directly with suppliers regarding nonconformance investigations, returns, and corrective actions.
• Collect and compile supplier performance data for ongoing monitoring and reporting of supplier quality metrics.
• Review part specifications and engineering drawings to define, create, and set up appropriate inspection plans.
• Use measurement tools such as CMMs, calipers, and micrometers to perform accurate dimensional inspections.
• Apply GD&T principles to interpret blueprints and verify that components conform to geometric tolerances.
• Support continuous improvement of inspection processes and supplier quality activities in alignment with quality system requirements, including ISO standards.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to address quality issues and maintain consistent product quality.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience performing incoming inspection of materials and components.
• Blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using measurement tools, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), calipers, and micrometers.
• Intermediate-level knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Familiarity with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) procedures and deliverables.
• Experience working in a manufacturing quality or sheet metal environment.
• Ability to work within an ISO-based quality management system.
• Proficiency with ERP systems for updating and managing inspection plans.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel for communication, data entry, and reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documenting inspection results and quality records.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment where the Quality Technician works closely with production, engineering, and supplier quality teams. The position involves frequent use of precision measurement tools such as CMMs, calipers, and micrometers, as well as regular interaction with an ERP system, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel to manage inspection plans and quality records. The environment supports significant growth, with the organization planning to expand multiple times over the next two years, providing clear opportunities to advance into supplier quality technician roles and to progress within the quality function. Work is typically performed on the shop floor and in quality labs or inspection areas, requiring adherence to standard manufacturing safety practices and any applicable dress or protective equipment guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
