Position Overview:
\n We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Generalist Medical Technologist to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory tests in a variety of areas including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank. As a New York State licensed Medical Technologist, you will ensure accurate test results, maintain laboratory equipment, and contribute to a high standard of patient care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

\n
• Perform routine and complex laboratory tests in various disciplines, including hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking.
\n
• Analyze test results and provide accurate and timely reports to physicians and healthcare providers.
\n
• Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, and processing in accordance with laboratory procedures.
\n
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are properly calibrated and functioning.
\n
• Adhere to laboratory protocols and safety standards to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies such as CLIA, CAP, and OSHA.
\n
• Review and interpret laboratory results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and take corrective actions when necessary.
\n
• Participate in the implementation and review of quality control and quality assurance programs.
\n
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of test results, quality control data, and maintenance records.
\n
• Assist in the training and development of laboratory staff and new technologists.
\n
• Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals and laboratory staff regarding test results, patient care, and laboratory operations.
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
\n
• New York State Medical Technologist License is required.
\n
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) from a recognized accrediting agency such as ASCP, AMT, or equivalent preferred.
\n
• At least 1-2 years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in a hospital or medical center setting.
\n
• Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety standards.
\n
• Ability to analyze complex data and provide accurate interpretations of test results.
\n
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
\n
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting while maintaining individual responsibility.
\n
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
\n
