Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
This Preoperative Registered Nurse position supports surgical center activities, focusing on preoperative care for surgical patients. The role involves preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vital signs, and coordinating with surgical teams to ensure smooth procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and prepare patients for surgical procedures, ensuring all preoperative protocols are followed.
• Administer IV medications, monitor patient status, and document clinical findings accurately.
• Collaborate with surgical teams, including scrub nurses and anesthesiologists, to facilitate efficient procedures.
• Maintain sterile fields, scrub for surgeries, and adhere to infection control standards.
• Complete documentation in EMR systems, including Sunrise and EPIC, as applicable.
• Provide preoperative education and support to patients and their families.

Qualifications:

• Valid and unexpired State RN license required.
• Current BLS certification required; additional certifications needed per job specifications.
• Minimum of 2 years of surgical or preoperative nursing experience.
• Strong IV skills and comprehensive surgical care knowledge, including robotics.
• Ability to respond to call and emergency situations within 30 minutes.
• Experience with EMR platforms, preferably Sunrise and EPIC.
