Laboratory Technician

Overview Base pay range: $22.00/hr - $24.50/hr A client is seeking a lab technician in Livingston, NJ. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience (academic or industry) in a lab environment. They will be on a team of about 15 technicians, responsible for genetic testing of gene disorders. This individual will log and track patient samples for genomics carrier screening and molecular gene testing, prepare samples for testing by extracting and purifying DNA, participate in research projects on alternate molecular approaches of gene testing and gene expression analysis such as Karyomapping, perform SNP-based assays, and document results. Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Responsibilities Log and track patient samples for genomics carrier screening and molecular gene testing Prepare samples for testing by extracting and purifying DNA Participate in research projects on alternate molecular approaches of gene testing and gene expression analysis (e.g., Karyomapping) Perform SNP-based assays Document results Coordinate and collaborate with other team members Support a lab team of about 15 technicians in Livingston, NJ Qualifications Internship, academic, or working experience in a lab Motivated and determined attitude with ability to work and collaborate in a team Undergraduate degree in Biology, Micro-Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Genetics or related fields Pluses: SNP-based assay experience Pluses: Experience with a 37-30 or 3500 genetic analyzer Employment type Contract Job function Science Industries Health and Human Services #J-18808-Ljbffr Insight Global
