Description Assistant Principal of Culture 12-month Exempt About Einstein Charter Schools Einstein Charter Schools ("Einstein") is a nonprofit Charter Management Organization whose mission is to nurture students to be academically STRONG as well as socially and emotionally resilient. Founded in 2005, Einstein Charter Schools is a top-performing, tuition-free, open-admissions network serving students in New Orleans East. Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, Einstein will operate as a unified school serving students in grades Pre-K–8 through the consolidation of Village de l’Est, Sherwood Forest, and Einstein Middle School. This unified model is designed to strengthen alignment across campuses, enhance student support, and provide a seamless educational experience from early childhood through middle school. Authorized by the Orleans Parish School Board, Einstein serves more than 850 students, over 44% of whom receive English Language Learner (ELL) services. Position Overview The Assistant Principal of Culture assists the Head of School in creating and sustaining a positive, safe, inclusive, and student-centered school culture that supports academic excellence, student well-being, and staff success. This position leads the development and implementation of schoolwide systems related to student behavior, attendance, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), restorative practices, student recognition, and family engagement. As a member of the school's leadership team, the Assistant Principal of Culture collaborates with teachers, families, and community partners to cultivate a culture of high expectations, accountability, respect, and belonging. The Assistant Principal of Culture oversees student discipline and behavior intervention systems, supports school safety initiatives, and promotes positive relationships that contribute to a thriving learning environment. Reports to: Head of School Key Responsibilities School Culture and Climate Lead the implementation of the school's culture vision, behavior expectations, and PBIS framework. Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student achievement and character development. Develop and implement proactive systems to improve student behavior, attendance, engagement, and school climate. Analyze school culture and discipline data to identify trends and implement targeted interventions. Coordinate student recognition programs that celebrate academic achievement, attendance, citizenship, leadership, and positive behavior. Promote restorative practices and conflict resolution strategies that support student growth and accountability. Ensure consistent implementation of the Student and Family Handbook. Student Behavior and Discipline Oversee student discipline procedures in accordance with school policies and applicable laws. Conduct student, parent, and staff conferences to resolve behavioral concerns. Develop individualized behavior intervention plans for students requiring additional support in consultation with the Student Support Team. Coordinate interventions for students with chronic attendance or behavioral concerns. Collaborate with the student success coordinator, counselors, social workers, and outside agencies to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs. Maintain accurate student discipline records and ensure confidentiality of student information. Family and Community Engagement Build strong partnerships with families to support student success. Lead family engagement activities related to student behavior, attendance, and school culture. Serve as a liaison between the school and families to resolve concerns and strengthen communication. Represent the school at community events and foster positive relationships with community partners. Staff Leadership and Support Support teachers with classroom management, student engagement, and behavior intervention strategies. Provide coaching and professional development on classroom culture, PBIS, restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation strategies. Assist with supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and supporting licensed and classified staff. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new employees. Promote staff recognition initiatives that strengthen morale and employee engagement. School Operations and Safety Assist in developing and implementing school safety, crisis response, emergency preparedness, and supervision plans. Coordinate campus supervision, arrival, dismissal, lunch, and special event procedures. Lead safety drills and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety requirements. Assist with maintaining a safe, orderly, and well-supervised campus. Leadership Responsibilities Serve as a member of the School Leadership Team. Assist with implementation of school improvement goals and strategic initiatives. Monitor schoolwide attendance, discipline, and culture performance indicators. Assist with staffing decisions, scheduling, and operational planning. Represent the Head of School in meetings and school functions when designated. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School Requirements Skills/Qualifications Passion for improving career and technical educational opportunities for urban students. Knowledge of varied instructional strategies, how to support the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques for improvement of instruction. Knowledge of physical, emotional, and intellectual development. Knowledge of effective behavior management techniques such as Positive Behavior Support (PBIS). Ability to promote and follow school policies, and building and department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator. Excellent interpersonal relations and oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, administrators, community stakeholders, etc. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Knowledge of curriculum design, planning, development, implementation and evaluation, assessment processes and how they should operate in an effective school. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, school personnel, parents, vendors, peers and other stakeholders. Ability to use tact, patience and courtesy when dealing with others. Ability to understand and be sensitive to those of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of, and ability to, develop, monitor and evaluate curriculum, discipline plans and supervision/safety plans. Advanced skill in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels. Takes initiative on a daily basis. Ability to connect with students and adults across difference and interact with others with grace, competence, and warmth Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree desirable. Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience, plus 3 years related administrative experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in supervision and administration is preferred. Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate Excellent human relations skills, speaking and writing skills. Knowledgeable of current public school laws. Successful experience working with elementary and middle school students. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. A results-oriented, goal-driven approach to work. Evaluation Annual review, including analysis of student achievement data.
