Here at Optum, part of the largest network of medical groups in the nation, we are seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our growing OB/GYN team in Poughkeepsie, New York. Position highlights include a collegial multispecialty group practice with a large referral base, focus on team-based care, excellent support staff and dedicated practice management systems, and a full complement of clinical and administrative support teams to assist with patient care.

Responsibilities include participating in initial examination of obstetrical patient, and in collaboration with the MD, sharing responsibility for care, treatment, and delivery of patient. Examines patient during pregnancy, utilizing physical findings, laboratory test results and patient's statements to evaluate condition and ensure that patient's progress is normal. Instructs patient in diet and prenatal health practices. Stays with patient during labor to reassure patient and to administer medication. Delivers infant and performs postpartum examinations and treatments to ensure that patient and infant are responding normally.

Required qualifications include a master's degree and midwifery certificate, completion of midwifery education program, four years of clinical midwifery experience, required with references, current NYS midwife license and AMCB certification.
