Cloud Infrastructure Virtualization Architect

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Virtualization Architect for a hybrid position (3 days onsite per week) with a Global Financial Institution located in Chandler, AZ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role is responsible for defining the target state architecture and design standards for the virtualization layer of our client's Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) stack. The ideal candidate will ensure the platform is repeatable, scalable, and aligned to internal cloud design tenets, delivering enterprise outcomes for resiliency and consistent workload hosting.

Responsibilities:

• Define and own virtualization reference architectures, standards, and guardrails for the HCI stack
• Produce and maintain reference designs, and review and approve virtualization design changes
• Ensure virtualization architectures deliver enterprise outcomes for resiliency, fault domain isolation, and consistent workload hosting
• Guide engineering teams on implementation patterns and ensure virtualization standards integrate with the broader HCI layering model
• Align with VMware centric platform components and dependencies introduced by automation and platform hosting layers (e.g., Tanzu/OpenShift)

Requirements:

• 5-7 years of experience designing or architecting virtualization platforms for enterprise infrastructure environments
• Strong working knowledge of VMware virtualization architecture concepts and how virtualization interacts with HCI stack layers
• Experience defining standards/guardrails (reference architectures, patterns, constraints) for platforms consumed by multiple teams
• Ability to translate resiliency and operational requirements into practical, enforceable architecture decisions

Desired skills:

• 7-10+ years of enterprise platform architecture experience across virtualization and infrastructure hosting domains
• Advanced VMware certification (e.g., VCAP) or equivalent experience demonstrating architectural depth
• Experience architecting platforms that host mixed workload types (VMs, grid/batch, container platforms)
• Experience supporting modernization programs that require strong standardization, automation alignment, and cross-team governance

Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
