2026 - 2027: Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech‑Language Pathologist – Franklin City School District (2026‑2027) Franklin City Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for students with communication disorders. The SLP supports students’ access to the curriculum by addressing speech, language, fluency, voice, and communication needs that impact academic performance and social development. Responsibilities Provides assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for students with speech and language disorders. Supports students’ communication skills to improve academic and social outcomes. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support inclusive educational environments. Conducts speech and language screenings, evaluations, and re‑evaluations. Interprets evaluation results and determines eligibility for speech‑language services. Develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with measurable goals and service plans. Provides direct and indirect speech‑language therapy services in individual and small‑group settings. Collaborates with teachers to support communication strategies in general‑education classrooms. Monitors student progress and maintains documentation required for IEP compliance. Participates in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Consults with teachers, parents, and staff regarding communication strategies and interventions. Maintains accurate and confidential student records in compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and division policies. Assists with preparing documentation for state and federal reporting requirements. Participates in professional development and continuing education activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of speech and language development and disorders. Knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic techniques used in speech‑language pathology. Understanding of IDEA regulations and special education processes, including IEP development. Ability to develop and implement individualized therapy plans. Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to collect, analyze, and report student data. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and families. Education & Certification Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program. Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech‑Language Pathology license. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) preferred. Clinical Fellowship (CF) candidates eligible for supervision are encouraged to apply. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families through verbal and written communication. Duties may require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional physical assistance with students during therapy activities. Benefits Salary: $61,285 to $95,376 per year, commensurate with education and experience based on the Franklin City Public Schools 2026‑2027 salary scale (pending School Board approval).
