Dietitian

The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is seeking a licensed Registered Dietitian to support a State facility in Bolivar, Tennessee. This role is responsible for professional dietetics work, including planning therapeutic diets and menus, administering medical nutrition therapy, and supporting the prevention and treatment of diseases and health conditions through nutrition care.


This position works closely with medical and nursing staff and serves as a nutrition consultant for patient care. The Dietitian will assess and analyze information from medical records, including medical diagnoses, nutrition history, food intake records, anthropometric data, laboratory results, and other relevant documentation to make recommendations that maintain or improve nutritional status.



Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement nutrition care plans based on patient needs, dietary regimens, and current medical treatment.
• Provide nutritional counseling and medical nutrition therapy to support disease prevention and treatment.
• Plan therapeutic diets and menus for clients in a State facility setting.
• Assess nutritional needs using medical records, nutrition history, intake records, laboratory results, and other clinical documentation.
• Calculate weight range, body mass index, daily caloric intake, protein, fluid, and other nutrient requirements as needed.
• Review the caloric and nutrient content of individual and facility menus, including protein, vitamins, and minerals, to determine whether adjustments are needed.
• Serve as a consultant to medical and nursing staff regarding nutritional status, dietary needs, and care planning.

Required Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Registered Dietitian.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in dietetics, nutrition, home economics with a food focus, or a closely related field.
• At least three years of professional dietetics experience, including at least one year of experience as a Registered Dietitian.
• Additional graduate coursework in dietetics, nutrition, home economics with a food focus, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required non-specialized experience.

Schedule

• This is a full-time weekday position working Monday through Friday.
• Workdays: Monday through Friday
• Hours per day: 7.5
• Shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST
• Weekends: Saturday and Sunday off
