Status: Full-time role with flexible scheduling of 15 shifts monthly (combination of days and nights, with a maximum of 5 night shifts).

Coverage Areas: Medical, Cardiovascular, Trauma, Surgical, and Neuro ICU beds.

Visa Sponsorship: Open to J1 Waiver and H-1B candidates for 2028 and beyond.

About the Role

Our organization is looking for a full-time Intensivist to become part of our adult critical care team at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania. This is an excellent opportunity to provide high-level, team-oriented care to critically ill patients in a regional referral center located in northwest Pennsylvania. We aim to establish a premier center of excellence for critical care at UPMC Hamot.

• Collaborate with a passionate team of critical care professionals focused on patient-centered care and evidence-based practices.
• Work in a state-of-the-art 64-bed critical care tower designed for optimal patient monitoring and staff efficiency.
• Utilize advanced tools such as point-of-care ultrasound, videolaryngoscopy, bedside bronchoscopy, and easy access to prone positioning. Capability to initiate ECMO before transferring to a quaternary center.
• Access to a modern radiology suite featuring a 3T MRI and a patient-friendly layout.
• Opportunity to mentor emergency medicine and neurology residents.
• All ICUs are recognized as Beacon Units (Silver and Gold).
• Comprehensive Cardiac Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center available.

Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical institution.
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
• Completion of an accredited Critical Care Fellowship Program.
• Recent fellowship-trained physicians are encouraged to apply.
• American Board Eligible or Certified in Critical Care Medicine.
• Ability to secure an unrestricted Pennsylvania Medical License and necessary credentials.
• DEA certification required.
