Location 6350 E 2nd St,Casper, WY, 82609,United States Job Category Infection Control Employee Type Full Time Exempt Travel 50% Description The Infection Control Nurse develops, coordinates, implements, maintains, and supervises an infection control program to prevent and control infection among patients and employees. Ensures compliance with current requirements of The Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, and the Department of Public Health. Requirements BS in Nursing Preferred Current WY RN license Current BLS Minimum two years of infection control experience preferred Minimum five years in acute care setting Summary Manage surveillance, prevention, and control of infections for patients and staff, reporting findings to the Infection Control Committee. Identifies key infection risks by monitoring high-risk, high-volume, and problem-prone areas/activities. Reviews patient admissions and placements to ensure prevention of infection spread; educates staff and observes infection control practices in patient care. Reviews positive microbiology/serology reports and follows up for patients and employees; reports resistant organisms and identifies exposure risks. Prepares and presents quarterly infection control reports; complies and disseminates infection data and trends to the committee and relevant staff. Institutes control measures/studies in response to trends or risks and collaborates on product reviews, chart audits, and problem investigations. Communicates with local and state health authorities as needed; manages communicable disease notifications, investigations, and reporting. Annually reviews IC policies, provides resource data, and educates staff, new hires, patients, and families; utilizes up-to-date infection control references. Monitors environmental cleanliness through committee participation and inspections; investigates and follows up on identified problems. Assists in selected studies, such as antibiotic usage reviews and interdepartmental collaborations on risk factors for infection. Attend all required safety training, maintains work area and equipment, and applies proper body mechanics at all times. Follows all exposure control plans for bloodborne/airborne pathogens and maintains compliance with protective barrier policies and annual education. Promote effective working relationships, foster a supportive team environment, participate in meetings, and support the hospital’s mission and policies.
