Assistant Baseball Coach

Position Information Position Title: Assistant Baseball Coach Status: Full Time Job Summary Assistant Baseball Coach will assist the Head Baseball Coach with all facets of the program; to include organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive DivisionII baseball program in support of the mission and core values of Tuskegee University. Responsibilities Assist head baseball coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition. Assist in recruiting, organizing, motivating and counseling baseball athletes. Assist with recruitment tasks: Letters of Intent (signing) and official visits. Monitor students’ class attendance, study hall, grades, commencement ceremonies and travel. Serve as a role model for student-athletes. Discipline, monitor personal appearance, conduct, image and behavior of all student athletes. Recruit on/off campus and sign students for Baseball Program. Supervise staff and students in the department assigned to this program. Act as a consultant and schedule team travel, hotel, meals, etc. Evaluate athletes’ physical condition and advise them on maintaining maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition. Serve as an expert in student athletes and educate them on issues affecting intercollegiate athletics. Ensure athletes maintain academic eligibility and records of participation are forwarded to the proper agencies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Three or more years of coaching experience at a high school or collegiate level. Knowledge of NCAA rules. Physical Demands This position may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds, standing for four hours each day, working in all weather conditions, and exposure to high noise levels. Additional physical demands include involvement in all practices and workouts with players. Skills and Attributes Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to recruitment and retention of student‑athletes. Effective coaching techniques and skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work well with others. Ability to travel extensively.
