About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Newburgh, Indiana, 47629!

• Provide direct nursing care to a neuro and neuro-surgical patient population including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms, as well as general medical and psychiatric patients
• Perform strong neurological assessments including NIHSS and dysphagia screenings, with basic telemetry interpretation
• Manage strict intake and output monitoring, straight catheterization, Foley catheters, NG tubes, and indwelling drain management
• Initiate and titrate heparin drips; administer blood and blood products; perform venipuncture and blood cultures; manage stable drips
• Document accurately using Epic EMR; participation in a checkoff class will be required upon start
• May be required to precept nursing students and new hires in this teaching environment; float within skillset to a sister campus with a minimum of 2 hours notice

• Active, current compact RN license in good standing
• AHA BLS certification required - must be attached at time of submittal
• NIHSS certification required - must be attached at time of submittal
• Minimum of two years of strong, recent neurology nursing experience
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Experience with post-operative craniotomy and cerebral angiogram patient care
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and titrate vasoactive and anticoagulation drips in a neuro-surgical setting
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to change and manage a dynamic patient assignment
• Collaborative, resilient, and team-oriented approach to patient care

• Expected 36 hours per week with the possibility of 48-hour contracts upon request; overtime may be available on extended contracts
