Registered Nurse - Pool

Position Overview Location: Avera McKennan Hospital Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends (United States of America) Pay Range: $32.50 - $48.50 per hour (actual pay rate dependent upon experience) Responsibilities Provide high‑level nursing care in Adult Specialty units, including Nephrology, Transplant, Neurology, Extended Care, and Cardiovascular patients. Develop nursing diagnosis, establish care objectives, and define interventions using the nursing process. Deliver physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Assess patient condition based on observation, examination, laboratory findings, and other relevant information. Use professional judgment and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize, and execute patient plans of care consistent with evidence‑based practice. Implement interventions to achieve progress toward expected patient outcomes, stabilize patient condition, and prevent complications. Complete assessments within specified time frames and recognize changes in normal and abnormal parameters. Participate in interdisciplinary patient care planning and evaluate patient progression for safe discharge. Identify and complete assessments of patient educational needs, and provide education based on level of understanding. Incorporate patient physiological, psychological, cultural, developmental, and spiritual needs into care plans. Evaluate and document patient responses, modify or revise treatment plans, and contact physicians as required. Adhere to patient care and facility guidelines, including budgetary, process improvement, core measures, and patient satisfaction initiatives. Direct and delegate support personnel in care plan implementation, provide guidance, and intervene with deviations from standards of care. Assist in education and training of other nurses and nursing students. Perform complex and routine treatments per physician orders and approved nursing protocols. Follow policies for medication administration, intravenous fluids, and blood products. Maintain patient care equipment and supplies, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and manage inventory. Qualifications Bachelor's in Nursing or equivalent. Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing license in the state of practice upon start of employment. 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment (preferred). Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties. Effective communication skills – verbal and written. Ability to work the specified hours and shifts.
