Licensed Practical Nurse

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Ensure patient safety at all times; triage patients appropriately to maintain productive departmental flow; obtain vital signs, assess the seriousness of complaints, and initiate appropriate clinical measures. Assist physicians to ensure maximum efficiency — prepare patients for exams and procedures, set up procedure rooms, and keep the physician informed of patient status and pending test results. Administer medications as ordered; contact pharmacy for prescriptions and refills as directed; document all administrations accurately and timely in the patient’s chart. Track diagnostic studies and specialist referrals to confirm results are received and patients are notified; obtain pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals in advance when required by insurance. Maintain exam room stock and cleanliness between procedures; adhere to infection control and quality control. Other duties as assigned. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities Record patient health histories, noting abnormal conditions– collect, label, document, and track lab and biopsy specimens; complete charts, charge tickets, and verify physician billing codes. Provide wound care, assist with suturing, apply sterile dressings, and administer IV solutions; prepare patients for procedures and obtain necessary consent forms; provide discharge and follow-up instructions. Schedule patients with physicians and specialty providers; contact patients regarding test results; coordinate surgery scheduling and referrals as required; notify hospital or skilled nursing facility personnel of physician orders. Demonstrate knowledge of Occupational Medicine procedures including pre-employment physicals, appropriate lab testing, treatment of work‑related injuries, and proper referral processes. Other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Graduation from an accredited LPN program required. Valid Tennessee LPN license in good standing required. Current CPR certification required at time of hire. 0–2 years of experience in clinic‑based nursing preferred. Preferred Experience Computer proficiency required; EHR experience preferred — EPIC familiarity a plus.
