Truck Driver Trainer – Responsibilities & Bonus Opportunity

The Truck Driver Trainer is responsible for training, coaching, and evaluating new and experienced drivers to ensure they meet Pope’s Holding LLC’s safety, performance, and professional standards . The trainer should be an experienced, dependable driver who can lead by example and help drivers become safe, confident, and productive.

Responsibilities

• Train new drivers on proper operation of company trucks and equipment.
• Teach safe driving practices, defensive driving, and company safety procedures.
• Review proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections .
• Train drivers on DOT rules, Hours of Service, ELD/logbook procedures, and required documentation.
• Teach proper backing, parking, turning, lane changes, and highway driving techniques.
• Train drivers on safely hooking, loading, securing, and handling equipment when applicable.
• Explain company procedures for pickups, deliveries, fuel, tolls, and route planning.
• Teach drivers how to communicate professionally with dispatchers, brokers, customers, and company management.
• Monitor driver performance while on the road and provide constructive feedback.
• Identify unsafe driving habits and provide corrective training.
• Make sure trainees understand the company’s no-smoking policy and truck cleanliness expectations.
• Teach drivers how to properly care for company equipment and report maintenance issues immediately.
• Complete trainee evaluations and report progress to management.
• Notify management of any serious safety, attendance, attitude, or performance concerns.
• Help determine whether a trainee is ready to operate independently.
• Maintain a professional attitude and set a positive example for all drivers.

Trainer Expectations

The trainer must be patient, professional, safety-focused, and able to communicate clearly. Trainers are expected to hold trainees accountable while helping them improve their skills and become successful drivers.

Bonus Opportunity

Truck Driver Trainers may qualify for an additional training bonus for successfully training and developing drivers.

Bonus eligibility may be based on:

• Successful completion of the trainee’s training period.
• Trainee passing the company’s final driving evaluation.
• Trainee meeting safety and performance requirements.
• Trainee remaining employed and in good standing for the required period.
• Trainer completing all required evaluations and paperwork.
• No preventable accidents, serious violations, or major policy violations during training.

Trainer Bonus: $1000 per successfully trained driver after 90 days.

Additional performance bonuses may be available based on safety, driver retention, and overall training results.
