Animal Health Laboratory Worker

We are hiring an Animal Health Laboratory Worker for one of our clients in Oceanport or East Rutherford, NJ .

Job Description:

• Under the direction of an supervisory official within the New Jersey Racing Commission, performs drug test sampling or collects blood, urine, and other samples for prohibited medications and substances; assists regulatory veterinarians with preparing for race day, maintaining vet's lists, maintaining medical records pertaining to veterinary inspections, monitoring certain treatments performed by private practitioners, ensuring compliance with NJRC regulations, and performing other related duties as required.
• This position may also require non-traditional work hours, on an as needed basis, including evenings and weekends on short deadlines for certain assignments, with or without advance notice.
• Overtime opportunities may be available for this position, subject to operational needs and approval.
• Candidates will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
• Statewide travel between office locations required for work responsibilities.

Skills required:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree with fifteen (15) credit hours concentration in Animal Science, etc.
• One (1) year of laboratory examination, analysis, and testing experience.
• Proficient in blood, urine, and other sample collection from horses.
• Pack and ship samples.
• Assist veterinarians with race day prep, maintaining computer-based medical records, and monitoring treatments .

Work hours:

• Weekdays 9:00am-5:00pm, weekends Friday & Saturday 5:00pm-1:00am.
• Will vary in accordance with racing schedules and operational needs.
