ICU RN: Night Shift for New-to-Specialty

We are considering candidates for our new to service training opportunity: open to those with ER or intermediate care (PCU/Step Down) experience interested in transitioning to ICU. Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as \"Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.\" The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values. Unit Details 34-bed medical/surgical ICU and 10-bed CVICU New specialization (CNRN or SCRN) opportunities for neuro patient population Trauma II facility, treating all levels of patients Opportunity for extended orientation for those transitioning from ER or PCU to ICU In This Role Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Teach patients/families/caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and side effects, and follow-up measures. Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Educate about non-medical follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes. Prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self-management. Manage evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that supports recovery. Qualifications NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). At least one year of previous ICU, ER, or Step/Down PCU experience required. Must be able to orient on a 50/50 days/night schedule, then transition to night shift.
